100 years of history and experience

Towers & Keightley can trace its history back to the mid 1920s when Ernie Pound started a carpentry and joinery works, supplying high quality timber products to local businesses. Bill Towers joined Ernie as an apprentice in the late 1930s working out of a small workshop situated above Tommy Bottom’s Bakehouse in Three Crowns Yard (now Bowley Court, Melton Mowbray).

The early 1950s saw Brian Keightley join Bill as his apprentice. After Brian completed his apprenticeship he formed a partnership with Bill and so Towers & Keightley was born. The workshop then moved in 1955 to new larger premises.

Towers & Keightley has always prided itself on high quality workmanship and good customer service, over the years we have worked for several generations of Melton families and local businesses.

In the late 1970s the business became Limited and John Swayne joined as Brian’s apprentice carrying on the tradition of staff rising through the ranks.  The early 1980s saw the workshop move to North Street Station Industrial Estate (Melton Mowbray) where the business continued to flourish.

Our company grew in the 1990s seeing Adam Wyles and Andrew Marriott join the firm as apprentices, which lead to the need for larger premises, in 2005 the workshop relocated to our current premises on Snow Hill (Melton Mowbray)

2005 also saw Brian Keightley retire after 55 years of services, passing the business to John, Adam and Andrew.  Today we are proud to uphold Towers and Keightley’s traditions providing quality service and maintaining our high standards, whilst also developing our products in line with current energy efficiency standards and high security specifications.
